Our approach includes embracing diversity in all forms and dismantling barriers for underserved communities, particularly BIPOC individuals. As industry leaders, we're dedicated to inclusion and equity. We're working to address harmful mindsets and biases in the outdoor industry, integrating equity initiatives throughout our organization and programs. We acknowledge this is an ongoing process with potential missteps. Our commitment is to address issues authentically, adjust policies as needed, and approach change intentionally. We're focusing on a limited number of initiatives to ensure thorough support and lasting impact.

We believe that diversity helps to provide our campers and our staff with the perspectives and skills they need to thrive in a complex, multicultural, and increasingly connected world. We believe that as a leader in the youth outdoor adventure industry, we must also lead in the realm of inclusion and equity.
We recognize that the staff and participants within the outdoor education and summer camp industries have traditionally been largely people of privilege. We recognize that people with less privilege have historically felt excluded and even unsafe at some outdoor programs and camps. The Avid4 Adventure Justice, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee shall act in an advisory capacity to ensure various voices are heard regarding inclusivity at Avid. This committee’s work is one part of larger efforts to support diversity and inclusion at Avid. Any proposed recommendations that come from the Committee process will be presented to either the Avid4 Adventure Operational Leadership Team or the appropriate person for consideration and approval.
